Back in 2022, a few of us got together and decided to build something different. We’d worked together before and realized we all wanted more freedom and control over what we were doing. That’s when we started what was then called Visitor Recovery. Honestly, it wasn’t easy—juggling full-time jobs and, for some of us, raising small kids at the same time. There were several moments when we considered quitting, but we kept going because we believed in what we were building.
Our big focus from the start was transparency and trust. We wanted to see an AI tool that was just as transparent in pricing and made businesses understand what they were paying for. So we built a solution that was simple, clear, and worked for businesses of all sizes—not just the big guys.
In the beginning, we found our first clients by just reaching out and talking to people directly. The feedback we got was incredible, and it really motivated us to keep pushing. Eventually, we reached a point where we couldn’t handle the demand ourselves, so we had to bring more people on board. Now we’ve got a small, tight-knit team, and we’re proud of what we’ve built together.
There was this one moment one of us was at the airport and saw one of our clients' stores in real life. He took a picture and sent it to the others, and we all had that “wow” moment. It’s still surreal to see how far we’ve come since then.
At the end of the day, we wanted to build a company where people actually enjoy working and feel respected. It’s not always easy (who would have guessed...), but we’ve stuck to our core values of transparency, trust, and mutual respect, and we try to bring that into every interaction.
Our goal is simple: to help eCommerce shops grow by giving them tools that actually make a difference. And if everything goes the way we hope, maybe one day we’ll be able to give back in a bigger way—using some of what we earn to support causes we care about.

We started out building RECOVA. Our goal was simple: help eCommerce businesses grow with tools that were transparent, linked to real outcome, and easy to understand. That hasn’t changed, but we’ve come a long way since those early days.
As we’ve grown, we realised it was time for our name to reflect where we’re heading.
NUNAMI includes the Japanese word for “wave”, and to us, it represents transparency, growth, and staying flexible in the constantly shifting world of eCommerce.
RECOVA got us started, but NUNAMI is about looking forward—helping businesses of all sizes.
The Japanese art of Kintsugi is where broken pottery is mended to make it a bit better. Just as we believe that NUNAMI makes selling online a little bit easier for the merchants and the user experience a little bit better for shoppers.
Mistakes happen and so do successes. Share them, as we all and the company becomes better from adapting to what works well and what doesn't.
We argue with data and we make decisions informed by data.
If there is a problem, there are many solutions for it. Each one of us owns the problems and drives towards solutions. “This is not my responsibility.”, is not in our vocabulary.
We focus relentlessly on our goals. Breaking them down each month and each week to best align our resources with our desired yearly and long-term goals.
We respect each other for having different opinions and approaches. Feedback is given with empathy in mind and we always presume the best intentions for the company from everyone’s actions.
